Samara SportsPark is a grassroots, community-led project with one simple mission: to create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring space where children, youth, and families in Sámara can play, connect, and thrive together.

Thanks to the generous support of the Nicoya Municipality, we’ve been granted a beautiful piece of land in Canto de los Gavilanes, where this dream is becoming a reality.

​

The idea began when Adrian López, a Sámara native, shared his vision for a skatepark with his friend Heidi Zimmerman. Her energy and determination helped transform that vision into something even greater — a full community sports park designed for everyone.

​

The park will feature thoughtfully designed spaces including walking paths, a children’s play area, a skatepark, a basketball and multi-sport court — all flowing harmoniously together yet offering unique areas for every age and interest. It’s a model for what small-town parks can be: vibrant, safe, and community-driven.

Our nonprofit organization, Asociación Pro-Construcción Parque Infantil y Juvenil de Sámara, was officially established on August 15, 2025, after more than a year of dedication and coordination across three legal teams. We’re proud to operate with transparency and diversity — our board of ten members is 50% Costa Rican, 50% international, and equally balanced between men and women.
